Today’s Wine
Okay, so I poured myself a glass of wine for today’s show and realized, to my amusement, that it was the same wine I was drinking last month. Oh well, it’s a great wine, so here goes. Let me re-introduce you to Toro Bravo, a 2017 Tempranillo Merlot from Spain. Toro Bravo is an inexpensive wine that has got a lot of people talking. This wine is a deep ruby red with strong flavours of black cherry, dark coffee, and maybe a little bitter chocolate (like those 85% cocoa Lindt chocolate bars). It’s full of attitude but still nicely balanced and it’s got a nice long finish. Super cheap but really good. Enjoy!
News. Rumors. Conspiracy Theories
The big news is that Ubuntu Disco Dingo is finally out! The best headline comes, of course, from The Register.
One surprise treat for NVIDIA card users is an out-of-the-box driver.

Today’s Featured Topic
Casting Pods . . .
So far, there are very few episodes of “Open Source Journeys” but I have already had my share of problems. I already knew it was going to be hard work, so I turned to an online tool, which I paid for, called Zencastr. Specifically, I chose to pay for the post production feature, which didn’t work out so well.
Luckily, I had Audacity on my computer. Audacity is a free program to record, edit, modify, and otherwise create audio masterpieces. Here’s a screenshot.
You can get Audacity from any distribution, but you can also visit the site here:
Distribution Focus
Today’s featured distribution is an old distribution. Well, a new release of an old distribution, namely Ubuntu, as we welcome the Disco Dingo, aka Ubuntu 19.04. Better yet, the release is today, April 18, 2019!
Of course, I had to upgrade my notebook prior to the show, because I like to leave things to the last minute and cause myself untold grief.
This led me to an interesting problem which I discovered when I ran “do-release-upgrade -d” (why -d?)
Anyhow, it didn’t work because I didn’t have enough space.
dpkg-query -Wf ‘${Installed-Size}\t${Package}\n’ | sort -n
Doing this, I was able to discover my biggest packages, and remove those I did not need.
178794 firefox
187374 franz
195448 code
199458 google-chrome-stable
208670 wine-stable-i386
223065 wine-stable-amd64
235695 signal-desktop
240528 zoom
266426 duckietv
297036 linux-firmware
535142 crossover
1401591 windows95
Now, with lots of space, I was able to finish my upgrade to Ubuntu 19.04, aka “Disco Dingo”.
So, what’s cool about
Other Stuff
Let’s talk about stuff and things. Maybe.
Did you know that there’s an Ubuntu Manga series? Yes! It’s called Ubunchu!
You can download the entire series right here: http://divajutta.com/doctormo/ubunchu/c.html
Until next time . . . A votre santé! Bon appétit!
