Glance Clock Review – Time for Productivity

Glance Clock

Before we talk about Glance Clock, you should be familiar with connected home devices by now. Nothing is simply a device anymore. Information is the name of the game, and if your refrigerator is just keeping your milk cold, you’re behind the game. It needs to tell you from 1000 miles away that you do, in fact, have kale that was purchased with the best of intentions.

But despite all of these smart home devices, some have been left behind. A wall clock has traditionally been a fixture in offices and common areas. Sometimes replaced by other appliances, because everything can tell time now. Let’s face it, the wall clock had to step up its game. Enter: The Glance Clock, the first connected wall clock we’ve reviewed.

Glance Clock Looks

First things first, the aesthetics of this clock are nicely modern. A nice fabric face, minimalist design ironically, and physical hands of a clock make sure that regardless of which features you utilize, it will still function as a clock. To a degree*. While it does have a battery, it only lasts one hour. Which is one of the few negatives we found when using it. Any intermittent power outages/surges shouldn’t affect the time/settings, but it does have to be connected to a wall outlet. The cord isn’t that obtrusive though, and should be easy to conceal. But it will have a wire.

Glance Clock Feature Rich

Next, do the features actually improve quality of life? Admittedly, your phone will be able to serve notifications on everything that Glance Clock will. But pulling out your phone in itself is a distraction. If you’re trying to focus, then being notified about upcoming events is the only thing you need. Keep your phone in your pocket, and just simply watch/listen for the Glance Clock.

Glance Clock Features Include:
Glance Clock IFTTT

We have talked about IFTTT on the program before, but if you’re not familiar with it, then this is your lucky day. It’s a great website for allowing one action to trigger another. (Hence the name, IF This Then That.) Personally, we use it for scheduling, handling actions after emails, appointments, and more behind the scenes of the show. It’s great for productivity and automation. So it was great to see such close ties with IFTTT and Glance Clock instead of building out their own skills. Democratizing with IFTTT allows anyone to simply hop in and boost the performance of their Glance Clock. You can see the full library here, or even build out your own.

Glance Clock Review

Overall, this has been a welcome addition to our studio. We’d like to see future iterations of the Glance Clock have voice control or Alexa/Google Assistant/Apple Homekit built in, and not just integration. As well as higher pixel count on the clock face. But for a first generation product, clocking in at $199, this would make a great gift for Father’s Day/birthday or simply yourself. Check out the product website for how to order!
