Top Tech Awards for CES 2022

Every year at CES, products and companies from around the world show off what they’ve been working on behind closed doors. CES 2022 was a different kind of show, but it did not disappoint. Below are our pics for the most innovative products across all categories, and technology that either innovates, or exemplifies products in their fields. By either using existing technology in a new way or refining it to the greater benefit of its users, these are our Top Tech Award winners for CES 2022.

Kinoo Kids AR Communication System Header
Kinoo Video System/AR Controller

Kinoo is a video chat app that includes interactive games and activities, developed by experts, to help far-away family members play and learn together with the children they love — just like they are in the same room. Add a Kinoo wand for the child to use – it allows the app to leverage augmented reality and interpretive motion to enhance the experience beyond the touch screen.

The dedicated team behind this product really wants to create a connected future for older adults and young kids. A 4-year-old is not going to engage in a meeting, and this is a problem many people have experienced over the pandemic. By blending innovative AR and learning apps with a way to bring two extremely separate age groups, Kinoo has shown truly new approach to an underserved problem.

42-inch LG C2 OLED TV

LG C2 is a TV based on OLED display technology with 4K resolution and flat design. It was launched in 2022 and is available in 42″, 48″, 55″, 65″, 77″, 83″ sizes. OLED Evo is one of the special features of this TV.

Bringing OLED to the masses with smaller form factors, it’s no secret that previously OLED has been locked behind a $1500 and up paywall, with massive screen sizes to boot. Finally bringing the size down, and thereby the price, this will be most peoples first foray into the gorgeous world of OLED. Packed with tons of AI goodies to boot, there’s no doubt LG was a standout this year in terms of displays at CES 2022.

Archer AXE200 Omni by TP-Link

State of the art Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router, TP-Link has managed to capture our imaginations and our eyes with this sleek, robotic router. Stagnant antennas have long since been a problem, with most consumers never touching them once the router is set up. Bringing automation to bear, TP-Link managed to improve signal quality with very little input from the end user.

BMW’s E Ink Color Changing Technology

Even non-car journalists and tech fans were wowed by the fascinating new technology, which allowed the BMW iX to change its exterior color from white to black and back again. However, some car enthusiasts, while impressed by the tech itself, struggled to find a real-world use-case scenarios for the tech, other than showing off.

While the practicality shown by BMW has very limited uses, it does show using a well-known tech and applying it in a new way. E-ink has long used for e-readers, such as the Kindle, but this was awesome to see. Don’t expect this any time soon, though it does have exemplify what CES is all about.

The Freestyle by Samsung

From slanted walls and kitchen tables to outdoor surfaces and floors, The Freestyle’s 180 degree design gives you the flexibility to point, play and enjoy a big screen experience. With its round, compact shape, you can easily slip it into a backpack and take your entertainment on the go. Portable projectors are not new, but they have been terrible. At most, one can expect “good enough” from a lot of these products. The Freestyle seemed to truly be pushing the brightness in the smaller form factor and trying to carve out a new market from these types of products. Bringing a screen anywhere you want, with a decent speaker, and smart technology, Samsung might be able to do just that. While you are paying a premium for this product, it is not unjust. A great surprise winner for Samsung at CES 2022.

Smart Dog Collar by Invoxia

The Smart Dog Collar has won 2 CES Innovation Awards and is the first connected collar for dogs to give you a window into your pet’s health over the long-term and make it possible to react quickly before it’s too late. When coupled with accurate real-time GPS tracking, you will never worry about your dog again.

While we have noticed a large bevy of pet-friendly products, getting your animal the full benefits of them are less than guaranteed. Automated feeders, automatic water bowls, automatic dog walkers, automatic pet cameras. So, when finding the right balance of smart tech and pet management, we feel Invoxia has truly walked the line. Offering not just tracking, but full health coverage, these will be standard in time. Helping pets and people be the best caretakers possible, all through passive monitoring. A great use of their existing technology in a new way.

Movano Ring

The Movano Ring partners with you, pairing our information with your intuition, our knowledge with your body, our vision with your voice—so you can live your best life. Your ring measures heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, respiration, temperature, blood oxygen, steps and calories. It can tell you why you slept the way you did, and that your resting heart rate’s higher.

Blending fashion and technology is never easy. Either a company has the fashion sense of a block of cheese, or they have the technical sense of one, few companies can pull it off. But with Movano, we felt they really managed to merge form and function. From a typical smart fitness tracker, they have shrunk it down to the size of a ring. While keeping a sleek and modern design. Looking forward to what Movano has in store when they fully launch their product.

OWC Atlas Pro and Atlas Pro Ultra

The OWC Atlas Pro media cards have been engineered with performance and reliability in mind, allowing professional photographers and videographers to shoot and transfer RAW images and up to 8K video footage with the highest possible workflow efficiency.

With improving standards, comes growing pains. But OWC has met them head on with compatible, high-speed, high-density memory cards. These will truly allow for everyday professionals to better work in native 8K resolutions. Great to see OWC keeping ahead of the curve in terms of hardware for macs and more.

Pentaform Computers

Our mission is to close the digital divide. We believe that great technology should not cost the earth nor the planet. To do so, we’re crafting low cost, intuitive products that is robust and build to last. No unnecessary luxury. Just great design, easy to use and affordable for anyone.

Introducing abacus_basic, a fully fledge personal computer compressed into a keyboard. It works with any form of display and the wireless keyboard comes apart so you can even use it from the sofa. Engineered to last and made from recycled acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastics.

A hidden gem of CES 2022, we really enjoyed not only the mission of bringing technology to underserved communities, but their desire to maintain sustainability and affordability. None of this at the cost of design. Sleek, elegant, inexpensive, and eco-friendly, Pentaform has managed to do something that not even the largest companies on earth could attempt. I look forward to seeing their vision become a reality for millions.

ViewSonic has a unique way of making monitors for every subset of user, while really hitting the high notes for all of them. Their work professional panels are amazing for color accuracy for example. But when it comes to gaming, we felt that ViewSonic was really pushing the specs in the right direction for their users. High refresh rates, miniLED for great visuals, and while keeping the price down to something akin to affordable. Great showing from a company that certainly has a great understanding of what audience they are targeting.

A bleeding edge display that captures the imagination as much as the eye.
