My own site is http://marcelgagne.com where I talk about whatever comes into my head, including Linux and Open Source software. If you just want the Linux and Open Source stuff, head over tohttp://cookingwithlinux.com .
Today’s Wine
Today, it’s back to Chile for a 2017 Gato Negro San Pedro Cabernet Sauvignon. Did you know that black cats are considered good luck in many parts of the world? It’s a nice dry wine with some lovely jammy flavors, mostly blackberry. While I tend to like full bodied cabs, this one is decidedly medium bodied. The price, however, is hard to beat.

Topic of the Day!
I think the topic is my ongoing failure to commit to a single distribution. However, let’s also talk about content management systems because I just finished a great video on that very subject.
In this video, I cover four major content management systems including Drupal, Joomla, Backdrop, and WordPress.
Distribution Focus
Well, I’ve gone and done it again. I’ve switched to another distribution for maybe the third time this year which means I’m on a questionable roll.
This happened after I got angry with issues I was having with OBS on the version of Ubuntu I was running. That got me out looking for another distribution that wouldn’t annoy me quite as much. I installed OpenSUSE, Fedora, and a couple of others. I wound up settling on Fedora because it looked good, installed well, and had a pedigree that was worth certainly worth considering. Then things started going wrong.
Which brings us to the topic of snaps and flatpaks. Oh my!
Second distribution Focus
Deepin is another distribution I’m taking a look at right now.
You can find it at https://www.deepin.org/en .
Other Stuff
I’ve started doing a regular Tuesday Cooking with Linux without a net for my old friends at the Linux Journal, every Tuesday at 12 Noon eastern time.
Also, I am also doing a little work with LPI, aka the Linux Professional Institute.
LPI is the corner of the movement created to help people turn their interest in open source into careers and entrepreneurship. Founded by an IT educator (Dan York) and an open source advocate (me) in 1999, LPI has delivered almost a half million certification exams around the world. Its ongoing goal is to help people who want to gain and prove and maintain their open source skills. Most recently it has re-confirmed its mission to work more like a law society or medical association, through which the practitioners guide the organisation and determine what’s most needed to advance the profession.
Until next time . . . A votre santé! Bon appétit!
