Should You Buy The Non-Optical PS5?
A few notes, ignoring the Playstation 4 Slim, this will be the first time Sony has released two versions of the console at the same time, with one excluding the optical drive. Digital sales have overtaken physical for the first time in the past few years, but that’s not a reason to discount the benefits of physical discs.
Games that are loaded with 4K assets, lots of information, and need to be downloaded are only getting bigger. Even with the best internet access, you are looking at an additional chunk out of your SSD. And the almost 1TB standard storage helps, you can be sure that each game will start running up 100GB+ a piece. If you are someone who enjoys playing multiple games and not having to delete them off your hard drive, consider buying physical games.
Bottom Line: If you don’t plan on playing multiple games in quickly, you can probably squeak by. But the UHD Blu-ray is a great feature and recommended.

Launch Date For The PS5
While Sony has not confirmed any official date, only stating “Holiday 2020”, we can assume November 2020, if not a little sooner. While there usually aren’t deals on the first Black Friday following a console release, there tend to be bundles. So it might be worth it if there is a game you’ve been anticipating.
