Story 1: BMW demonstrated color-changing concept car

- At CES a year ago, BMW’s iX Flow concept was billed as “the world’s first color-changing car.”
- At the time, the special version of the iX electric crossover could shift its various panels between white, black, and gray.
- For this year’s CES, BMW showed off the i Vision Dee, an electric sports sedan concept that previewed a whole raft of technologies we could see in the immediate future, like AI-powered virtual assistants and full-windshield heads-up displays.
- But it also included a full-color version of the E Ink technology seen on last year’s concept for the first time ever that can change into 32 colors.
- The i Vision Dee’s body is made up of 240 E Ink e-paper segments, all of which can be controlled individually.
- This means the i Vision Dee can shift to one solid color or put on one amazing light show comprised of multi-color segments.
Story 2: Samsung shows off an oven run by artificial intelligence

- We all know that opening an oven to inspect a pie, for example, allows a lot of heat to escape every time you open the oven door to check the status.
- With Samsung’s new Bespoke Artificial Intelligence Wall Oven, featuring a built-in camera and burn detection AI technology, you can do all the looking you want.
- The oven’s AI Pro Cooking algorithm can recognize up to 80 dishes and recommend the appropriate temperature, time and mode for cooking, then send notifications to help prevent your food from burning.
- The oven also features a push-to-open door for a sleeker appearance, not to mention the convenience of nudging the door open with your shoulder when your hands are full.
- The Bespoke AI Oven is available in Europe and will launch in North America in the third quarter of this year.
Story 3: John Deere Unveils Electric Excavator at the Consumer Electronics Show

- At this year’s CES John Deere entered the all-electric excavator market with the unveiling of its new environmentally friendly machine.
- The electric excavator was designed to reduce operating costs and noise, while also producing zero emissions.
- The company said the electric version won’t sacrifice any power or performance but did not immediately give details about how often the machine will need to recharge and how long it will take.
Story 4: New head cushion allows computer gamers to “feel” the game

- AT CES Razon, a popular gaming peripheral brand, unveiled what it calls “Project Carol.”
- It’s a head cushion you attach to the top of your PC gaming chair and it provides rear audio as well as haptic feedback tied to whatever game you’re playing.
- “Haptic feedback,”refers to technology that creates a sense of touch through vibration or other means.
- The audio is 7.1 surround sound and the haptics are powered by Razer’s “HyperSense” tech.
- It’s supposed to fit any gaming chair you have and connects wirelessly to a PC
- Razer didn’t give out any price or availability details.
Story 5: Intel debuted the world’s fastest processor for laptops

- At CES Intel showed off its 13th-generation Intel Core microprocessors.
- The chip giant’s top of the line Core i9 processor now offers 24 cores, a first for a laptop, including 8 performance cores for heavy duty tasks like gaming and 14 efficiency cores for mundane activities like web browsing.
- Okay, what is a “core”?
- A core, or Central Processing Unit, is the “brain” of a microprocessor. It receives instructions, and performs calculations, or operations, to satisfy those instructions.
- This achievement by Intel is so exciting as it means that your next laptop could have 24 brains to divide and conquer the most demanding tasks at blinding speeds!

Story 6: Samsung introduced a new lineup of TVs with an AI-powered “auto-HDR” mode

- The company’s latest Neo QLEDs offer Auto HDR Remastering, which Samsung says, “uses AI deep learning technology to analyze and apply real-time high dynamic range (HDR) effects on standard dynamic range content on a scene-by-scene basis.”
- (HDR increases the contrast between the brightest whites and darkest blacks a display can produce.)
- The system compares non-HDR content with HDR material and uses machine learning to analyze the differences and then make the conversion.

- HDR lets you see details in the dark shadows and highlights in one scene. With standard dynamic range (SDR), either one is usually blown out or crushed, so you cannot see the detail in them.
- For a while, HDR was primarily used in photography.
- Non-HDR, also called standard dynamic range or SDR, is probably what you are used to watching your content with.
Story 7: Self-driving stroller

- The Ella smart stroller by Canadian startup Glüxkind is a “hands-free” motorized buggy that uses AI to detect obstacles and danger on the pavement.
- It was a CES 2023 Innovation Awards winner
- The name Glüxkind is inspired by the German word Glückskind. “Glück” means lucky and “Kind” translates to child.
- Packed with sensors, including cameras, the Ella can drive itself when empty, keep up with parents while they hold their infants and stop automatically if it encounters an obstacle.
- The buggy’s cameras track moving and stationary objects such as people and bikes, alerting parents to potential collision dangers through sounds and flashing lights in the handle.
- As for the Ella’s motors, they aid when manually pushing the stroller, assisting with inclines and automatically braking when going downhill or stationary.
- Price is $3,300
Story 8: This Hydro-Powered Speaker Makes Showering Fun for Kids

- At CES a company called Ampere debuted the Shower Power Pro. It’s a Bluetooth speaker you affix to your showerhead, and it’ll pump out tunes as you scrub.
- You never need to recharge it because it’s hydro powered!
- This new model is a slight upgrade over the standard Shower Power, with better sound quality, a more compact speaker design, and a lower price ($69).
- It comes in a rubber duck, sea turtle, or narwhal design, and it’s meant to encourage kids transition from the bath to shower phase.
- It’ll be available in the second quarter of 2023.
Story 9: Ryse Flying Car

- Several companies showcased their eVTOLs, or electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles, at CES.
- These are concept vehicles that can drive on roads and fly to improve mobility and reduce one’s time spent in traffic.
- This one is the Ryse Recon.
- It’s designed to operate easily – regardless of your skill level and no pilot’s licence is required. Company officials call it “an aerial ATV anyone can fly.”
- It has six independent motors and six waterproof removable and rechargeable batteries.
- It can fly for about 20 minutes at an altitude of up to 700 feet and has a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
- It’s also ultra-lightweight, tipping the scales at 290 pounds and has a payload of 250 pounds.

- Epicore Biosystems unveiled its new Connected Hydration sweat patch and mobile app at the 2023 CES.
- Connected Hydration is the first electronic wearable that continuously measures sweat fluid and electrolyte losses while monitoring skin temperature and movement.
- To prevent hydration, an alarm goes off on the device when wearers’ fluid loss exceeds two percent of body weight.
- According to Epicore, the device is intended for people who work in harsh conditions, athletes grappling with extreme heat, and people living through severe heat waves.
